Disc 1 HOW TO PUT ON A SHOW - Uncle Miltie narrates a hysterical, "Dragnet"-style overview of what goes on behind the scenes of a big variety show. Former child-star Jackie Cooper ("The Champ"), singer Vic Damone, and oomphy Dagmar ("Broadway Open House") are the guest stars. 7TH SEASON FIRST SHOW - Milton has fun showing guest star Mickey Rooney around the new studio. But when Uncle Miltie tries to generate publicity by claiming he broke his leg during a production number, he discovers that there is such a thing as bad publicity.
Disc 2 WHAT'S MY RACKET? - In a hilarious parody of the classic panel game show "What's My Line?" Peter Lawford guest stars as the host. Panelists include Berle, Broadway's Carol Channing ("Hello Dolly") and Marlene Dietrich's daughter, actress Maria Riva. (The game show's "Mystery Guest" is Santa Claus!)PARTY DATE - Comedienne Martha Raye desperately tries to find a date for a big party being given by NBC. Since she's not too interested in going to the soiree with Berle, she sets her sights on handsome leading man, John Payne.
Disc 3 MUSIC MAN - Milton worries about making actress Judith Anderson ("Rebecca") feel at home on his musical-comedy show, so he hires Broadway's Cyril Ritchard ("Peter Pan") to direct her in a dramatic reading of "Medea." Singer Georgia Gibbs also appears.CHAMP - Television's Renaissance man Steve Allen joins Uncle Miltie in a parody of "The Steve Allen Show" on which Berle accidentally knocks out heavyweight champ Ezzard Charles. Actress Janet Blair ("South Pacific") and actor Jerome Cowan ("The Maltese Falcon") get in on the fun.
Disc 4 DRAGNET - In this hysterical sendup of the cop-show classic "Dragnet," Sgt. Joe Friday himself, Jack Webb, guest stars, as does television legend Sid Caesar, who accuses Berle of stealing - his jokes! It's a rare chance to see the two kings of fifties TV comedy on one show!FIRED - Musical-comedy star Kaye Thompson guest stars in this memorable show in which cost-cutting Berle gets upset with his staff's inefficiency and disrespect, so he fires them all! Hilarity ensues.
Disc 5 ART & CULTURE - Actor Paul Douglas ("Executive Suite") tries to help Milton get tickets to a Broadway show and also gives him dating advice and a crash course in art appreciation. BROADWAY - Uncle Miltie decides to become a Broadway star and ends up competing with none other than Frank Sinatra for the lead in a new play, opposite the inimitable Tallulah Bankhead ("Lifeboat"). Plenty of jokes about Sinatra's current hit "From Here to Eternity"!
