This is an original Pastel drawing I did when I was in a bit of a mood. The drawing is in orange pastel. It was featured on the cover of an oline Poetry e-zine back in 2001.
Drawing size is 10" x 7.5" (19cm x 27cm) on 160gsm acid free gouache paper.
The Print for this drawing was digitally enhanced for printing. The print is Hot Red. Print is on A4 Canvas type printing paper. The actual print has a nice bleeding/blended effect.
The print version was sent to ABOUT.com for critque. This is what they had to say.

From the artist . . . "Today I was feeling a little out of sorts with the world. I have been drawing portraits for friends in coloured pencils and feeling very tight. Then this one popped out. Very loose for me after what I have been doing."
This submission is much more abstracted than the artist's work in Paintings 2000 but it does exhibit the bold color of this self-portrait.
I think the pose of the figure depicts a vulnerability and sadness, possibly mixed with some anger in the artist's choice of red -- but it certainly conveys the artist's feelings on the day it was created. I really like the indication of the shadow figure with the solid color on the left side. |
Drawing and print are not framed. Please note that all monitors are different in the way they show up colours.
Drawing will remain in the pad until sold for it's own protection. Print is in a plastic sleeve protector.
