This giclee print is from an original watercolor painting depicting the omnious Night Raven from Danish/Scandinavian folklore.
The Night Raven is said to be the returned soul of a executed criminal , who has been buried on unconsecrated ground /outside the church grounds, and has come back to punish and haunt the living.
The Night Raven has a hole in its wing, because the people who buried the criminal used a wooden/iron stake to pin down the body, in the hope that it would prevent a future haunting.
According to the myth the Night Raven is a bringer of death, so if you see the Night Raven or hear its hellish screams in the night, you can be sure that misfortune and possibly death awaits you in the near future. But for the people who take the chance, and manage to look through the hole in the wing and see the moon, the future will be prosperous.
The print measures 9”x12” and is printed on heavy glossy paper.
