Dewy Brooker is a 12 year old girl who believes in angels, heaven and the power of a dream. Her dad mark is a single father on the verge of bankruptcy.
Dewy's a talented basketball player dealing with the pressure of a summer league tornament. Her dream is being a basketball star like her late mother. Mark is a floundering graphic artist preoccupied with keeping his job and the house they live in. He doesn't have the time to give Dewy the support she needs.
Dewy could really use some help not only to face the competition but also the mean spirited heckling of Dirk. Dirk is a real estate developer enraged that Dewy shows up his son Rikki, one of her team mates. He goes to great lengths to upset her and break her concentration during games.
To please her dad, Dewy is also taking art cclasses, but instead of drawing flowers, she doodles basketballs. In frustration, her art teacher, Karla Bowers, visits Dewy's home to speak to her father. She strikes up a reltionship with Mark that alienates Dewy further.
When Dirk Jenkins discovers that the value of Mark's house is about to skyrocket, he sends a seductive real estate agent to entice Mark to sell before he is approached by developers.
In desperation, Dewy says a prayer one night and receives the help of two bungling angels, Zeke an oafish 16 year old boy and Gabby an 11 year old girl. Gabby is Zeke's angel trainer and professes to be 400 years older than Zeke.
Together they inspire Mark and Dewy how to have faith in their talents. Marks work astonishes his boss and Dewy qualifies to take a shot at a $25,0000 scholarship. The angels also make things very difficult for Dirk's devilish plans. Dewy and her father both learn they can over come anything.
